Monterey town elections to be held Tuesday
MONTEREY - Time again for the election of Monterey's Town Council and mayor Tuesday. Since no one has registered to be an officialcandidate on the ballot, voters will have to fillin the blanks with hand-written choices. On Monterey's list of registered voters, a public document obtained from the Highland Registrar's office,there are 135 active, registered voters in Monterey. Most of these are eligible to serve in these seats.
The Recorder, as a public service to voters, provides the following list of those eligible to serve based on the voter registration list. This information does not mean the registrar's officeor The Recorder has validated every name, nor that every person mentioned here is eligible for office.Some on the list may have moved and not informed the registrar, for example, and are still therefore listed.
Also, no one from Monterey will be acting as an election official this year. All officials required to perform the duties related to this election are from outside the town.
The election is Tuesday, May 6 and the polling place, the Highland County Volunteer Fire Department in Monterey, is open from 6 a.m to 7 p.m.
Voters can write-in the name of one person for mayor and six names for town council.
