| MONTEREY - The Highland County Public Library hosted a lunch for volunteers at The Highland Inn on April 24. The library depends heavily on volunteers throughout the year, especially for the annual book sale.
"The book sale is our biggest fund raiser," said Tomi Herold, librarian. "We couldn't do it without the hundreds of hours of work performed by these volunteers. We also appreciate the kind and generous donations from local merchants for our summer reading program. In addition, the library employees give above and beyond. So, this is just a small way we can give back to all of the people who give us so much."
Attendees enjoyed lunch and then a surprise. Not only were there many door prizes, but everyone got to take home a book cover, donated by Barnes and Noble, and some certificatesto use in the library.
