Brooks Miller Rexrode

WAYNESBORO - Brooks Miller Rexrode, 80, of Waynesboro, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Avante of Waynesboro.

Born March 22, 1928, in Franklin, W.Va., he was a son of the late Lloyd R. Rexrode Sr. and Beulah Mae Arbogast Rexrode.

Mr. Rexrode was a retired truck driver with Smith's Transfer, and a member of Hermitage Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Staunton Moose Lodge, as well as a charter and life member of the Blue Ridge Good Samaritan Camping Club. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and his family, especially the grandchildren. His interests included NASCAR, camping and traveling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Rexrode Folks; and a stepson, Hal Gallimore Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Gallimore Rexrode; a son, David Miller Rexrode and wife Katie, of Staunton; a daughter, Vicki Rexrode Gayhart and husband Steve, of Scottsville; a stepson, Jay Paul Gallimore and wife Tammy, of Waynesboro; a step daughter-inlaw, Ronette Brant of Waynesboro; two sisters, Norma Jean Echard and husband Pete, of Monterey, and Dorothy Lightner Misner and husband Charles, of Harrisonburg; two brothers, Jim Rexrode and wife Doris, of Fincastle, Lloyd Rexrode Jr. and wife Gail, of Staunton; a grandson, Christopher Nash and wife Kim; six step-grandchildren, Jennifer Henderson, Brandon, Tyler, Hunter, Melody and Forrest Gallimore; a step-great-grandchild, Brooke Gallimore; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was conducted Sunday, May 4, at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A memorial service followed at Hermitage Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Wray Sherman officiating both services.
