David Wayne 'Mickey' Benson

CLIFTON FORGE - David Wayne "Mickey" Benson, 67, of Clifton Forge and formerly of Hot Springs, died Friday morning, May 2, 2008 at The Living Center in Clifton Forge.

He was born April 3, 1941 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Doris L. Perry Cleek and was helped raised by the late Floyd L. "June" Cleek.

He was a retired custodian for the Hot Springs Post Office.He attended Eden United Methodist Church in Hot Springs.

Mr. Benson was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by several cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris L. Cleek, on Feb. 18, 2003 and his stepfather, Floyd L. "June" Cleek, on Aug. 3, 2003.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, May 5, at McLaughlin Funeral Home in Hot Springs with Pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating. Interment followed in Falling Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hot Springs Rescue Squad, P.O. Box N, Hot Springs, Va. 24445.
