One dead in Bath car crash
WARM SPRINGS - A Richmond man was killed Monday night when his car struck a tree on Route 39 east.
Sgt. R.J. Carpentieri, public information officer for the Virginia State Police, Salem headquarters, said Carlos Mendell DeBrill II died Monday at 6:17 p.m. when his 1996 Oldsmobile Achieva struck a tree. Carpentieri said DeBrill ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, ran off the left side and hit the tree.
DeBrill was wearing a seat belt, Carpentieri said, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Trooper J.E. Bostic is handling the investigation, which is ongoing.
The accident occurred two miles west of the intersection of Routes 39 and 630. No other vehicles were involved.
