Achievement Amy E. Halterman
SALEM - On June 12, the Western Virginia Emergency Services Council held its annual awards banquet at the Salem Civic Center. Each year, emergency medical service agencies and individuals within the community have an opportunity to nominate individuals they feel have gone above and beyond in order to be recognized for the regional awards. These nominees are then reviewed by a regional committee and the winners selected. The awards winners were recognized at the annual banquet.
This year, the Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services Council was proud to recognize Amy E. Halterman as the regional winner in the category of "Nurse with Outstanding Contributions to the EMS Community." As read at the banquet, "Halterman consistently demonstrates great compassion for her patients and great concern for her crew. She strives to help people, both in her work as emergency department nurse and as paramedic on the ambulance. As a certified EMTB instructor, Amy remains active teaching others. Additionally, she teaches ACLS and CPR. Halterman is a true hands-on provider, and is the definition of a nurse with exceptional commitment to EMS and the full continuum of patient care."
Halterman was nominated by her crew members of Troutville Rescue Squad for this award.
Halterman's nomination as Nurse with Outstanding Contributions to EMS will now be submitted to the state level where she will compete with other regional winners for the prestigious State Governor's Award. The state winners will be announced at the Virginia EMS Symposium in November.
Halterman is currently employed as a registered nurse at Bedford Memorial Emergency Department and is First Lieutenant at Troutville Volunteer Rescue Squad.
She is the daughter of Glenn and Cathy Halterman of Monterey.
