Dabney to offer study for manufacturing, engineering careers

CLIFTON FORGE - The Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute Education and Training Foundation has recently announced approval of an application for funding from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College for student scholarship awards. The funds, totaling $6,000, will be used to assist individuals who are enrolled at DSLCC in programs of study that lead to careers in manufacturing, engineering technology and engineering.

"Full funding is available for tuition and books for eligible students," said Dr. Leo Mulcahy, associate professor and head of the college's program in advanced manufacturing and packaging technology. "We are pleased to have received this funding from PMMI, a leading global resource for the packaging industry.

This trade association currently has over 500 members who manufacture packaging and packagingrelated converting machinery and machinery components.

"It is a pleasure to partner with PMMI," commented DSLCC President Dr. Richard Teaff. "Members of this organization are renowned for making the highest quality equipment and being excellent in responding to their customers' needs. PMMI leaders have long recognized the need to educate technicians and have demonstrated strong support of the DSLCC program that was developed to train those who are expected to meet the demands of today's manufacturing environment. Our curriculum focuses on skills that specifically apply to the packaging industry. This award for eligible students is the latest example of the value that PMMI places on quality educational programs, such as the one that DSLCC now offers."
