Betty S. Fisher

STAFFORD — Betty S. Fisher, 77, of Stafford County, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at home with her family after a courageous six-year battle with cancer.

Mrs. Fisher worked for many years as a legal secretary, recently retiring after 10 enjoyable years with attorney Randall C. Palamar. She loved corresponding with her many friends and relatives.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth F. Fisher Jr.; two sons, Edward M. Payne and wife, Diana of Texas and Kenneth F. Fisher III of Stafford; one daughter, Julia E. Ranagan and husband Mike of Spotsylvania County; four grandchildren, Raymond, Sarah, Ashleigh and Heather; a sister, Mabel Neff of Bath County; and a brother, Harry Shumate of North Carolina.

A private memorial service for the family was held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11 at Cremation Society of Virginia in Richmond.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, in care of Trudy Clifton, 113 Tallpines Avenue, Locust Grove, Va. 22508. No flowers, please.
