Donate blood on Sept. 10 save three lives
Editor, The Recorder,

I would like to encourage everyone who has donated blood to be at The Highland Center in Monterey between 1-7 p.m. on Sept. 10.

Give your neighbor a call and bring them with you. George "Goog" Colaw had major heart surgery several months ago. Just prior to his surgery he had given blood. He said he wasn't sure, but he may have gotten his own blood back.

Four hundred units of blood are needed each day in central Virginia. This amounts to 146,000 units per year. Approximately 60 percent of the population is eligible to donate blood, but only 5 percent does.

Remember, one unit of blood can save three lives. Let's be a lifesaver and donate. You could save a neighbor's life, or your own.
