Competitive clogging comes to Highland County, Sept. 27

Dorothy Stephenson
MONTEREY - You may have seen pictures in The Recorder or have been following the success of the Sundance Express, a competitive clogging team based in Monterey. If so, you need to be at the Sundance Showdown at Highland High School in Monterey on Sept. 27. The competitive clogging world will be landing in Monterey that day.

Starting at 9 a.m., competitive clogging teams from up and down the East Coast will take the stage competing for honors at this brand new American Clogging Hall of Fame sanctioned clogging competition. This is an event for cloggers and fans of clogging. Teams such as Mountain Heritage of Crimora, Critical Impact of Morehead, Ky., Crossroads Cloggers from Pennsylvania, and many others will gather to show off their modern and traditional clogging routines. Plus, there will also be competitions for the duo/duet categories and the solo categories.

Group registration for this event is closed, but those interested in competing in the solo categories can register that day at the door at a cost per dancer, per entry. Solo categories include contemporary, traditional, flatfoot and a capella.

Admission for the event will be charged at the door.

For more information visit www.sundancestudio.org or call Dorothy Stephenson at (540) 280-7975.
