Catherine Lowry Hise

WAYNESBORO — Catherine Lowry Hise, 78, of Waynesboro died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at her residence. She was born June 9, 1930, in Highland County, a daughter of James Augustus and Viola Edmund Lowry.

She was a member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church. She loved fishing and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Coolidge Hise Sr.; five sisters, Pauline, Virginia, Janet, Hazel and Josephine; four brothers, Wallace, Jasper, Lawrence and Herman; and a grandson, John "Buzzy" Key III.

Surviving are her six children, Catherine "Lucy" Early and husband, Dale, of Crimora, Ivan C. Hise Jr. and wife, Judy, of Waynesboro, Wilma Courtney and husband, Lester, of Grottoes, Betty Key and husband, Tommy, of Hermitage, Patricia Ralston and Scott Clinedinst of Waynesboro and Michelle Lawrence and husband, Glenn, of Churchville; one sister, Mary Irene Hise of Monterey; two brothers, Bedford Lowry and wife, Betty, of Waynesboro and Richard Leo Lowry of Churchville; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jason Whitener and Dr. Fred Holbrook. Interment will be private at an earlier time in the church cemetery.
