Join Safehome for vital awareness event Oct. 12
Editor, The Recorder,

October is Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. In recognition of this important month, Safehome will be sponsoring its third annual "Walk a Mile in Their Shoes." The event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 12 from 1-3 p.m. at Jackson River Sports Complex in Covington. Due to the excitement surrounding Charlie Daniels' performance that day, we have shortened the Walk by one hour to make attending both events possible.

There will be a time for remembrance, free food and drinks, gift bags to the first 150 children, free water bottles to the first 200 registered participants, kids' games with prizes, a moon bounce, the Virginia State Police drunk driving simulator, Smokey Bear, fun activities, and entertainment provided by The Announcers.

Over the past year, Safehome has provided service to 446 men, women and children in our community who have been victims of domestic or sexual violence. Please join us while we remember and honor these brave individuals.

Should you have questions or need further information, please contact us by phone toll-free at 1-877-393-3672 or by email at Home4Peace@aol.com. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, Oct.12 for the Walk.

Ammie Todd Moore Executive Director, Safehome

Covington, Va.
