Sixth annual gospel jubilee to feature Kathy Joy Bell

Kathy Joy Bell
WARM SPRINGS — Kathy Joy Bell, a singer/songwriter from Somerset, Ky., will perform at Allegheny Mountain Radio's sixth annual Gospel Jubilee on Saturday Nov. 1.

Bell was a top 10 Female Vocalist nominee in Inspirational Country Music this year. She's recorded three albums, the most recent of which is "Covenant." A number of her songs have ranked high on Christian country and southern gospel music charts.

Bell studied piano for 11 years and was accepted as a piano performance major at the University of Kentucky. But instead of studying music, she completed a degree in psychology. She received a master's degree at Western Seminary Seattle (now called Mars Hill Graduate School) and is now a licensed professional clinical counselor. Her music is described as energetic and reflective, with a taste of contemporary and country.

This year's jubilee will also feature Theresa Lyons, Bobby Neff, Bootsie Hodge, The Back Yard Gospel Band and Richard and Karen Hise and daughter, Jenna.

Frankie and Tammy Hicklin, members of Starr Bolar United Methodist Church, will be emcees.

The Gospel Jubilee is Saturday, Nov. 1 from 6-9 p.m. in the auditorium of Bath County High School. There's no charge for admission, but free will donations will be accepted.

The jubilee benefits WCHG in Hot Springs, part of Allegheny Mountain Radio, a non-profit network of community radio stations that also includes WVLS in Monterey, WVMR in Frost, W.Va., and W278AL in Durbin, W.Va.
