| WARM SPRINGS— Lady Charger Hillary Jessee fired 28 kills, breaking teammate Carey Trimble's school record of 25 set last year, and the Bath County Chargers took control of the Pioneer District by beating James River in four sets, 27-25, 25-16, 15-25, and 25-13 last Thursday night.
The Knights had Bath at game point, 25-24 in game one, but a kill by Jessee, an ace by Jessee, and a tap kill by Trimble gave the Chargers a come-from-behind win and took the loud from the River crowd.
The lady Knights hung tight and tied game two at 10 points each before Charger Rebecca Chaplin served for eight straight points, including two aces, to give Bath a comfortable margin at 18-10, and a kill by Trimble ended the set.
The Knights rallied to take game three, but Jessee went to work in game four to finish the match. An ace by Trimble to start the set was followed by nine kills by Jessee and Bath took a 11-3 lead. A kill by Jessee and a stuff block to win the match ended the game and the Lady Chargers enjoyed first place in the Pioneer.

COVINGTON — Continuing their dominance of the Pioneer the Bath Chargers held off a stalking Covington Cougar team to win in straight sets, 25-23, 25-16, and 25-20.
"We finally won a game in three games," said Bath coach Dave McGee.
Hillary Jessee added 15 kills to her team-high of 155 on the year while Carey Trimble upped her season total to 106 with eight. Amelia Walters smacked down five kills to get into the action.
Bath's re-match with the Cougars next Thursday, Oct. 18, will be a fund-raiser for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The teams will wear pink uniforms and encourage the crowd to wear pink as well. Activities to raise money for the cause will take place and proceeds from the game will benefit charity. The team invites everyone to attend to support the cause and watch the Chargers (11-0) end the regular season undefeated.
