A machine separated Hodge's red blood cells and then returned the remaining substances along with saline solution into his body. Donors who choose to donate using this method can only give every 112 days instead of every 56. "I've been giving this way ever since they got this machine," Hodge said because "It's what they need." Also pictured behind Hodge are Aaron Bragg (l) and Erica Leftwich (r) who work with the Red Cross unit that travelled from Beckley.
