Traci Mallow joins AMR team

Traci Mallow Traci Mallow FRANKLIN, W.Va. — Traci Mallow of Franklin started work last week as AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, charged with helping develop Pendleton County's new radio station, WVPC-FM 91.1 FM.

Mallow, a life-long Pendleton County resident, is a 2001 graduate of Pendleton County High School and a 2007 graduate of West Virginia University, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in theatre. In the past she has worked at WQWV in Petersburg and most recently at Thompson's Café Bella.

She is the daughter of James and Irene Hise of Franklin and is married to Mike Mallow, son of Donald and Linda Mallow of Upper Tract.

"I'm excited to be a part of WVPC because I enjoy working in radio and I like the idea of my county having its own radio station instead of having to rely on radio from neighboring counties," she said. "I'm looking forward to giving Pendleton County residents a place where they can talk about the things that are important to them and get the word out about upcoming events. I'm hoping to work with the people in Pendleton County to build not only the station but the county up."

There will be an informational meeting for anyone in the county interested in learning more about WVPC in mid June. Watch The Recorder for details.

Mallow also has ties to other AMR counties, "Of course, even though I'm a Pendleton County girl, I do have ties to Pocahontas and Highland counties through my family. My dad is originally from Highland County and some of my aunts and uncles still reside in Highland."

The Pendleton County Chamber of Commerce will provide WVPC with a temporary home in its office in Pendleton Crossing across from the Shell Station in Franklin.

Mallow would like to hear ideas about what the new station might do for the community. "I'd definitely love to have input from county residents because I want them to know that this is their radio station," she said.

Mallow can be reached by phone at (304) 358-7027 or e-mail at wvpcamr@gmail.com.
