      RADFORD — Trailing 4-0 in the third set, the Bath County tandem of Jessica Gutting/ Amelia Walters staged a desperate comeback to defeat George Wythe doubles team Meredith McDaniel/Kelsey Morrison, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5, in the Region C semifinals last Wednesday, May 27.

Bears oust Charger netters
      RADFORD — The Bath County Charger tennis squad finished the year with a record of 5-3 after falling to the Bland County Bears five matches to one last Wednesday, May 27. The players dodged showers throughout the rain-shortened day. Amelia Walters claimed the only Charger victory of the afternoon with a quick two-game win over Kayla Dillon.

Bradley steps down on top
      WARM SPRINGS — After a third consecutive regional tournament appearance as Pioneer District Champs, Bath County tennis coach Terry Bradley has announced his resignation and is leaving the helm. Skipper since 2000, Bradley has seen the Chargers come a long way from the near removal of the program to repeat district titles.

Billingsley 13th at state level
      RADFORD —Highland High School junior Hayley Billingsley ran the 3200M at the state track finals Saturday in Radford and finished with a time of 13 minutes, 21 seconds, good for 13th place. Billingsley was about a minute and a half behind the winning time of 11:46.08. Pioneer and Region C Champ Britta Grim of James River was fourth at 12:25.44.
