Billingsley 13th at state level RADFORD —Highland High School junior Hayley Billingsley ran the 3200M at the state track finals Saturday in Radford and finished with a time of 13 minutes, 21 seconds, good for 13th place. Billingsley was about a minute and a half behind the winning time of 11:46.08. Pioneer and Region C Champ Britta Grim of James River was fourth at 12:25.44. Billingsley was the Region C and Pioneer runner-up and her time was slower at states than most other meets this year. Ram track coach Kim West said that should be a good motivator for Billingsley. "She ran well but didn't quite make her regional time," West said. "She is very competitive and hard on herself when she doesn't accomplish her goals. She'll be working on lengthening her stride for next year. I'm looking forward to watching her compete next season." The Pioneer and Region C Champ James River Knights finished second overall in the girls' competition and sixth in boys'. |
