Mama draws another full house
      MONTEREY — Last year The Mountain Mama Road Bike Challenge was postponed 30 minutes because of rain. This year the clouds settled into the valley on Friday and were still thick Friday night as riders reached town. Those camping in tents at Highland High School were treated to a damp night of rest.

      Former Bath County High School football standout John Phillips has had a good first week of training camp with the Dallas Cowboys. Phillips, a sixth-round draft pick from the University of Virginia, is trying to earn a spot on the squad as a tight end and get ready for the Cowboys' pre-season games.

     Members of the HHS golf team (l-r) Tyler Botkin, Dustin Chapman, Joey Brendel, Aaron King, and coach Don Ferrell attended golf camp at Green's Folly Golf Course in Halifax County last week. The team fine tuned their skills for the opening of the fall season next week. Botkin received second place trophies on both the pitching contest and the final tournament while Chapman was on the second-place captain's choice team.
