It wasn't the fanciest place in town. In fact, it wasn't in town at all. Nor was it packed with customers day in and day out, or on anybody's register of historic places. But Corbett's Store, lost to fire last Thursday morning, was a true landmark in the hearts and minds of area residents and beyond. More ... Bath shoppers quickly became accustomed to finding fresh produce, homemade baked goods and all manner of items created close to home over the last couple of years. There are two women in particular they can thank for that — Donna Campagna and Harmony Leonard (pictured left). More ... Fall has truly arrived. Last week I got hit in the head by a falling missile from the chestnut tree. I don't understand why a nut that is, in my opinion, one of the least appealing should be protected by such frightening armor as the chestnut. It boasts a bright green pod, about two inches in diameter, surrounded by another inch of stout, prickly spikes. More ... |
