The sign is up, and the Bath County Christmas Mother shop is open for business at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Hot Springs. The shop opened Dec. 1 and is open through Dec. 11 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Distribution day will be Dec. 16 for families being helped by the program. Todd Lacks painted the sign, and said he wanted to keep the angels from the previous sign and used colors similar to those found on old-time Christmas cards. Pictured (l-r) are Christmas Mother Helen Smith, Russ Woodzell and Lacks. Woodzell has been helping with the program for nine years and said it gives him a chance to give back to the community. Smith called him the "everything man" and said he handles much of the pickup and delivery associated with the Christmas Mother effort. "We are up and running," Smith said. "People can still call and adopt a family or make donations." Donations can be dropped off at the church, or for more information call 839-LOVE (5683). (Recorder photo by Mike Bollinger)
