Why would tourist flock to see wind turbines?

According to supervisor Jerry Rexrode, 400-foot industrial wind generators will make a great tourist attraction for Highland Country. But I wonder why anyone would want drive all the way out here to see such a ruination of natural beauty when they can just as easily enjoy different varieties of man-made ugliness where they already live.

At best, the generators may offer an uncommon ugliness, which might draw morbid interest — just as some people might want to gawk at the aftermath of a train wreck. But that probably will wear off after the first visit.

Natural beauty, in contrast, encourages people to come again and again.
