8 a.m. Thursday - Update from BARC
The following news release was issued by our CEO and General Manager, Mike Keyser.
BARC sustained significant damage from the storm, with over 100 broken poles, as well as downed trees, damaged electrical line and damaged hardware. BARC and additional crews are working in the following areas today, beginning at 6:00 am. Please note that progress will depend heavily on the extent of damage to our system:
Stoneridge Lane/Sebastian/Moore's School Lane
Duncan's Knob/Muddy Run/Burnsville
Up River Rockbridge Baths/Cornwall/Vesuvius/South River/Irish Creek
Bird Forest/White Rock Road/Gas Tower/Mohler's Loop
McDowell Area/Siren's Mill/Doe Hill Area
We also have 20 additional men arriving in the afternoon from Tennessee and will dispatch them to other locations after they arrive. We really appreciate our member's patience and support as our crews work to restore power to everyone. Field conditions are tough, but spirits are high.
By the end of the day, BARC will have 76 outside personnel from Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, and North Carolina in addition to the BARC personnel in the field restoring power.
