STAUNTON — James T. O’Hare III, 77, of Staunton, died quietly at home with his beloved daughter at his side on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012.

Born in Jeannette, Pa., he was the son of the late Valetta Garretson O’Hare and James T. O’Hare II.

He was a member of the Armed Forces with the American Security Agency stationed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. After receiving his bachelor of science degree from Pennsylvania State University, he was employed as district reforestation forester with the Virginia Division of Forestry, based in Staunton, until 1977. At that time he assumed the position of Land Acquisition Director for the state of Virginia and head of the Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries Office in the Staunton District. Following retirement he served as consultant in timberland management throughout the state. A life-long outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. His later years were spent at Four Pines, his camp and Christmas tree farm in Highland County. His favorite time of the year was hunting season when friends from across the country joined him at his camp.

He is survived by a son, Michael S. O’Hare and his wife, Ellen Sapienza, of Upper Bucks County, Pa., and a daughter, Sharon L. O’Hare, of Staunton.

Interment will be private.
